Aitek S.p.A. is a SME established in May 1986 in Genoa, Italy. It is inspired by the model of high-tech companies developing innovative technologies to solve multidisciplinary problems within industry and services. It employs 37 people and 7 partners, most of whom are electronic engineers and Information Technology specialists.
In more than 25 years of activity, Aitek has reached a position of technological leadership in the creation of systems for toll collection, digital video surveillance and video analytics over IP (more than 15,000 cameras installed) and platforms for Digital Signage and video communication (over 3000 monitors installed for the distribution of advertising, new and multimedia content). Since 1999 Aitek has a certified Quality Management System according to the ISO9001:2000 standards. Aitek has decades of experience in the image processing with a wide range of products and applications. Aitek has played an active role, in several collaboration projects, both national and European (ESPRIT, Innovation, Ten-Telecom, IST programs) and has taken part in European networks for scientific and technological cooperation within the Training and Mobility of Researchers program. In 1999 Aitek was awarded the IST Prize, the only Italian company among twenty-five winners, for the Retina Project developed in collaboration with the LIRA-Lab (University of Genoa).
