CISTERlogoInstituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP)

The School of Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto – ISEP), is a public higher education and research institution, one of the largest schools of engineering in Portugal (6000 students), with leading departments and research units in the areas of, among others, computer science, electrical and electronics engineering and mechanical engineering.

The work in SafeCOP will be carried out by ISEP’s research unit CISTER (www.cister.isep.ipp.pt), a top-ranked Portuguese Research Unit, which focuses its activity in real-time and dependable embedded computing systems and is currently one of the leading European research units in the area. The CISTER research unit has 10+ years of experience in real-time and embedded systems and has provided advances in architectures for distributed embedded real-time systems, real-time wireless sensor networks, cyber-physical systems and quality-of-service distributed computing.

CISTER has a track record both in research results, and in industry-driven projects (in which CISTER research results are of interest) that have an integrated perspective of research/innovation and pre-competitive development.
